Dorothy Kuklinski is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Addictions Counselor (CADC). She obtained her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology Degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, specializing in Addictions Counseling. Dorothy has experience working with adolescents from ages 12-17, in inpatient, hospital, and outpatient settings. She also has experience working with adults aged 18 and over, in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings. She has worked with adolescents and adults with both mental health and/or substance use issues.
Her therapeutic modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Dorothy works to empower clients from a strengths-based, non-judgmental perspective, while supporting and guiding her clients to cope with their life stressors. She is also fluent in the Polish language.
Prior to working at Polaris, Dorothy worked as a crisis intervention counselor, providing assessments for those needing mental health services in an emergency room setting. Dorothy has also worked as a counselor in a residential setting, providing group and individual treatment for males with substance use and mental health issues. Dorothy currently works as an Adolescent Clinical Therapist in a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient level of care. Dorothy works closely together with middle schools and high schools near her job setting, advocating for students to receive increased support regarding their mental health when they transition back into an academic setting. Dorothy focuses on treating anxiety, depression, grief, co-occurring disorders, family conflict, stress management, and self-esteem.
Dorothy enjoys spending time with her family and significant other. She spends a lot of time playing with her energetic, lovable Rottweiler, Draco. She loves going to get coffee, watching movies/shows, and traveling to warm destinations.
