Laima Zavistauskas is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the Chicago-Land area. With over 15 years of experience, Laima has expertise in working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, marital and relationship issues, life transitions, and emotional trauma. She also provides individual and group psychotherapy to people with self-esteem and identity challenges.
When Laima was in her early twenties, she discovered the healing power of psychotherapy. Harnessing this power and passion, she turned it into a reality by becoming a therapist. Over the years she has developed a strong background in treating individuals with trauma histories, whether distant or recent, and insight into the impact of trauma on current relationship and life struggles. Laima often uses the “here and now” approach, by making links between the clients’ feelings and bodily sensations. Her goal is to guide her clients toward positive change, equipping them with psychological tools that help change their outlook and empower strengths. Laima believes that the power of psychotherapy unfolds in a trustworthy, friendly and nonjudgmental environment. Her sensitive and intuitive therapy style enables her to connect deeply with her clients. Over the years of professional practice, Laima has developed a “toolkit” of practical and effective techniques, derived from Acceptance and Commitment, Mindfulness, Existential, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic approaches.
Laima holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the National Louis University. She is multilingual, speaking in English, Lithuanian and Russian fluently. In her free time, Laima practices yoga, and enjoys outdoor activities and traveling. She likes reading, especially literature focused on internal growth and mindfulness. Laima is also an active Lithuanian community member, and she is involved in various community activities. She wrote a number of articles in Lithuanian and English on the topics of mental health.
